Offered here is an original paper door plaque from the Winter Relief Work (WHW) from the street collection of 1934. The plaque bears the complete original inscription: “As a Christmas gift to the Führer, bring your sacrifice for the people’s plight!”

This item comes from old, documented dealer stock and is a rare testament to the Nazi propaganda history and social history of the German Reich.

Historical Background

The Winterhilfswerk des Deutschen Volkes (WHW) (Winter Relief Work of the German People) was an annual fundraising campaign by the NSDAP, conducted from 1933 to 1945. During the street collections, plaques, badges, and stickers were given to donors and affixed to doors. The paper door plaques from the first WHW season of 1933/34 are among the earliest and rarest testimonies of these collection campaigns and are highly sought after by collectors of Nazi ephemera.
