Original German Equestrian Badge 3rd Class in Bronze in the coveted Prince Size – from the renowned Nuremberg manufacturer L.Chr.Lauer, Nuremberg / Berlin (marked GES.GESCH.). Dated 1935. From old dealer stock.
The German Equestrian Badge was founded in 1921 and is one of the oldest German sports badges – awarded for proven equestrian performance in three classes: Bronze (3rd Class), Silver (2nd Class) and Gold (1st Class). The Prince Size refers to the smaller, more elegant version for civilian everyday use – in contrast to the larger order size. The manufacturer L.Chr.Lauer (Ludwig Christoph Lauer) from Nuremberg was one of the most important German medal and badge manufacturers of the 19th and 20th centuries – his products are known for the highest quality and are particularly sought after by collectors. The year 1935 places the piece in the early Nazi era, when equestrianism experienced a renaissance in Germany (Olympics 1936 Berlin). German Equestrian Badges in Prince Size by the manufacturer Lauer are rare on the collector's market.
