About the Russia Flight 1930 – the most politically significant Zeppelin flight
In September 1930, the LZ 127 "Graf Zeppelin" undertook its famous Russia Flight – one of the most politically significant flights of the airship ever. The airship flew over the Soviet Union and landed in Moscow – a diplomatic event in the context of German-Soviet relations during the Weimar Republic (Treaty of Rapallo 1922). The Soviet postal service issued special Zeppelin airmail stamps for the mail transported on board – in Cyrillic and Latin script. Soviet Zeppelin stamps are among the rarest and most politically interesting pieces of Zeppelin philately – they document a unique chapter in German-Soviet history and are equally sought after by German, Russian, and international philatelists. Also available: Zeppelin Orient Flight 1929 (Art. No. 33.220), Polar Flight 1931 (Art. No. 33.216), LUPOSTA Danzig 1932 (Art. No. 33.212) and the entire Zeppelin stamp series in the assortment.
