About this piece

Unit and squadron crests of the Luftwaffe are among the rarest and most diverse collecting areas in German military history. Every squadron, group, and many flights of the Luftwaffe had their own crests, which were attached to uniforms, aircraft fuselages, and equipment. The sword as a crest element was a common symbol for combat units – particularly fighter, bomber, and dive bomber squadrons. Cloth patches of this type are very rare on the collector's market and are internationally sought after by Luftwaffe and squadron specialist collectors. Also available: Luftwaffe Pilot's Badge Fabric (Item no. 32.971), Luftwaffe Uniform Eagle (Item no. 32.977, 32.978), and Low-Altitude Attack Destruction Armband (Item no. 21.966).
