Historical Background

The Luftwaffe Pilot's Badge was one of the most coveted awards for pilots of the German Luftwaffe in World War II. It was awarded to airmen who had successfully completed their training. The riveted version – where the eagle and oak leaf wreath were manufactured separately and riveted together – is considered a characteristic of particularly high-quality wartime productions and is highly valued by collectors. The maker's mark on the reverse is an important authenticity feature. The preserved original case significantly increases its collector's value, as cases were often lost.
