Rare original photo card (AK) of one of the most famous Knight's Cross recipients of the German U-boat navy: Korvettenkapitän Reinhard Hardegen (* March 18, 1913, Bremen; † June 9, 2018, Bremen) – an authentic contemporary document from World War II.

Reinhard Hardegen was a recipient of the Knight's Cross with Oak Leaves and, as commander of U-123, led the famous Operation Drumbeat (1942) off the American East Coast. He was one of the most successful U-boat aces of the Kriegsmarine and died as one of the last of his generation in 2018. This photo card is an exceptionally sought-after collector's item.
