The airmail stamp “Europe–North America” documents the historical transatlantic flights of the LZ 127 “Graf Zeppelin” between Europe and the USA – the airship's boldest and most famous journeys. LZ 127 first crossed the Atlantic in October 1928 on its maiden voyage to Lakehurst, New Jersey and undertook several transatlantic flights in subsequent years, including the famous 1929 circumnavigation of the world. The transatlantic mail carried on board received special route stamps “Europe–North America”, which documented the entire route and are now among the most sought-after pieces in American and German Zeppelin philately. Transatlantic Zeppelin covers are highly sought after by US, German, and international philatelists alike. Also available: Zeppelin Orient Flight 1929 (Item No. 33.220), Russia Flight Moscow 1930 (Item No. 33.221), Polar Flight 1931 (Item No. 33.216) and the entire Zeppelin stamp series in our assortment.
