About this piece

Elbing was one of the most important cities in West Prussia – a significant port and industrial center at the mouth of the Elbing River into the Vistula Lagoon. Separated from the German Reich by the Polish Corridor after the First World War, the city was reincorporated in 1939 and assigned to the Reichsgau Danzig-West Prussia. Vehicle tax stamps from Elbing are among the rarest German issues ever – an absolute highlight for collectors of East Prussia, West Prussia, and Danzig.
