Original cloth patch of the German Cross in Gold (DK) with national emblem (HK) – one of the rarest and most sought-after awards of World War II, in the wearable version for the uniform. From old dealer stock.
The German Cross in Gold was instituted by Adolf Hitler on September 28, 1941, and ranked between the Iron Cross 1st Class and the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. It was awarded to approximately 26,000 soldiers in total – of which approximately 2,500 were members of the Panzer Corps. The cloth patch (as opposed to the metal version) was sewn directly onto the uniform and is significantly rarer than the metal version. Original cloth patches of the DK in Gold with HK in good condition are among the absolute highlights of any Wehrmacht or SS medal collection and fetch corresponding prices on the international collector's market.
