About the Imperial German Zeppelin Badge

The Imperial German Zeppelin Badge is one of the rarest and most coveted German military badges of World War I. It was awarded to members of the Imperial Navy Airship Force – the crews of the naval zeppelins, which were used in World War I for reconnaissance, bombing raids on England, and naval patrols. The Naval Airship Force was one of the most elite units of the Imperial Navy – service aboard a Zeppelin was dangerous and required the highest specialization. The Zeppelin badge combines two of the most vibrant collecting areas: Imperial German Militaria and Zeppelin Philately and Memorabilia. Original examples are among the absolute rarities at international auctions.
