The mail drop was a special method of Zeppelin mail: Instead of landing, the airship dropped sealed mailbags over cities, which were then processed further by the local post office. This drop mail received special mail drop postmarks, which distinguish it from regular Zeppelin onboard mail and are now among the rarest and most sought-after pieces of Zeppelin philately. The Görlitz Mail Drop 1930 – carried out by LZ 127 "Graf Zeppelin" – is a specific and rare event in German Zeppelin mail history, highly desired by specialized collectors. Also available: Zeppelin Stamp Vienna 1931 (Item No. 33.206), CORREOS URUGUAY 1930 (Item No. 32.474) and Colonial Post Kiautschou 1901 (Item No. 32.472).
