Spanish Cross in Silver – Legion Condor, LDO Case, Manufacturer Marked (Original)

Offered here is an original Spanish Cross in Silver of the Legion Condor, with a manufacturer's mark on the reverse and complete with its original LDO case. The piece comes from an old, documented dealer stock and is in good condition for its age. The Spanish Cross is among the rarest and most sought-after German awards ever.

Historical Background

The Spanish Cross was instituted by Adolf Hitler on April 14, 1939, and awarded exclusively to members of the Legion Condor – the German volunteer unit that fought alongside Franco in the Spanish Civil War (1936–1939). Since the Legion Condor comprised only about 19,000 men and the Spanish Cross in Silver was awarded to only a portion of them, it is one of the numerically rarest German orders of the 20th century. The LDO case (Leistungsgemeinschaft Deutscher Ordenshersteller – German Order Manufacturers' Association) confirms its official issue by an approved manufacturer. The manufacturer's mark on the reverse is an important authenticity feature and allows for precise attribution to the producer.
