About the German Rider's Badge and the Manufacturer L.Chr.Lauer

The German Rider's Badge was founded in 1921 and is one of the oldest German sports badges – awarded for proven equestrian achievements in three levels: Bronze (3rd Class), Silver (2nd Class) and Gold (1st Class). The year 1930 places this example in the late phase of the Weimar Republic – a time when equestrian sport had a broad social base in Germany, before it was politicized during the Nazi era. Compared to later versions (e.g., Article No. 31.008, dated 1935), the Weimar Republic variant from 1930 is particularly interesting for collectors. The manufacturer L.Chr.Lauer (Ludwig Christoph Lauer) from Nuremberg was one of the most important German medal and badge manufacturers – his products are known for their highest quality. Also available: German Rider's Badge 3rd Class Bronze 1935 (Article No. 31.008), Horse Groom's Badge Bronze 1930 (Article No. 31.009) and German Driver's Badge 3rd Class Bronze 1930 (Article No. 31.015) – all from the manufacturer L.Chr.Lauer.
