Corvette Captain Otto Kretschmer (* May 1, 1912, Heidau; † August 5, 1998, Bavaria) was the most successful U-boat commander of World War II and a recipient of the Knight's Cross with Oak Leaves and Swords. As commander of U-99, he sank more tonnage than any other U-boat ace of the Kriegsmarine. This photo card, with the rare combination of both individuals, is a particularly sought-after collector's item.
