The Friedrich-Franz-Kreuz (short: FF Cross) was the most significant gallantry award of the Grand Duchy of Mecklenburg-Schwerin in World War I – founded in 1914 by Grand Duke Friedrich Franz IV of Mecklenburg-Schwerin. It was awarded in two classes: The pin-back version (breast decoration) is the higher class and consequently rarer. The Grand Duchy of Mecklenburg-Schwerin was one of the larger North German federal states in the German Empire – yet its awards are among the rarest German individual state orders, as they were only awarded to Mecklenburg soldiers and members of allied units. Also available: Oldenburg Friedrich August Cross 1st Class (Art. No. 32.918), Anhalt Friedrich Cross 1st Class (Art. No. 30.160), Anhalt Friedrich Cross 2nd Class (Art. No. 32.919) and Kaiser Wilhelm Order Colonies (Art. No. 32.925).
