The black-white-red cockade was the characteristic cap badge of the German Empire (1871–1918) and the Reichswehr (1919–1935). Black-white-red were the national colors of the German Reich – after 1935, new cockades were introduced for the Wehrmacht, but older examples were sometimes still worn. The 2 prongs for rear attachment are a typical feature of original cockades of this era. This second example complements item no. 21.651 and offers collectors the opportunity to compare different designs or manufacturers.
