The Reichsarbeitsdienst (RAD) was divided into regional Arbeitsgaue (work districts), each covering a specific geographical area. Arbeitsgau XXVIII encompassed the region of Silesia – one of the most economically significant regions of the German Reich with a strong industrial and agricultural structure. Gau-specific RAD cloth badges are significantly rarer than general RAD badges, as they were only issued in the respective regions. An unworn example from old dealer stock is a particularly rare find for RAD and Silesia specialist collectors.
