About the RAD and This Piece

The Reichsarbeitsdienst (RAD) was a paramilitary organization of the Third Reich, introduced in 1935 as compulsory service for all German men between 18 and 25 years old. With over 350,000 members, the RAD performed infrastructure work, harvest assistance, and later also military support tasks. The side cap badge with a swastika on fabric was the distinctive cap insignia of the RAD side cap (service cap) and differs from the breast eagle by its more compact shape and method of wear. RAD badges in fabric versions are rare on the collector's market. Also available: Other RAD badges and miniatures in the Militaria-Hoya assortment.
