About the Kaiser Wilhelm Order and the German colonies

The Kaiser Wilhelm Order was one of the most significant awards of the German Empire for services in the German colonies (protectorates) – including German East Africa, Cameroon, Togo, German Southwest Africa, German New Guinea, and Kiautschou. It was awarded to military personnel and civilians who had distinguished themselves in the colonies. In World War 1, German colonial troops (Schutztruppen) fought in Africa and Asia – the colonial campaigns are among the most fascinating and least known chapters of the First World War. Colonial orders of the German Empire are among the rarest and most internationally sought-after German awards – they combine colonial history, militaria, and the Imperial era in one piece. Also available: Anhalt Friedrich Cross (Art. No. 32.919, 30.160) and Oldenburg FA Cross (Art. No. 32.918).
