The Hanoverian Waterloo Medal was awarded to members of the King's German Legion and Hanoverian troops who participated in the Battle of Waterloo (1815) and the campaigns of the Wars of Liberation from 1813 onwards, under the command of Duke Wellington. Instituted under Regent George (later King George IV of Great Britain and Hanover) – one of the most significant distinctions of the House of Welf and a highly sought-after collector's item in Hanoverian military history.
