About the Frederick Cross and the Duchy of Anhalt

The Frederick Cross was the bravery award of the Duchy of Anhalt in World War I – established in 1914 by Duke Frederick II of Anhalt. It was awarded to Anhalt soldiers and members of allied units for special bravery in the face of the enemy and worn on a ribbon. The Duchy of Anhalt was one of the smaller German federal states in the Empire – accordingly, its awards are rare on the collector's market. Medals from the individual German states from World War I are among the rarest and most specialized collecting areas of German militaria. Also available: Oldenburg Frederick-August Cross 1st Class (Art. No. 32.918) and other individual state medals in our assortment.
