Original Horse Groom Badge in Bronze for Cavalry Horse Grooms – from the renowned Nuremberg manufacturer L.Chr.Lauer, Nuremberg / Berlin (marked GES.GESCH.). Dated 1930. From old dealer stock.
The Horse Groom Badge was a military performance award for members of the Cavalry who demonstrated special skills in horse care and keeping. In the Reichswehr (1919–1935), the cavalry still played a significant role – horses were indispensable for reconnaissance, transport, and combat. The year 1930 marks the late phase of the Weimar Republic, when the Reichswehr was still entirely dependent on horses. Reichswehr Horse Groom Badges are extremely rare in the collector's market – they combine Cavalry Militaria and Equestrian Sports Philately in one piece. The manufacturer L.Chr.Lauer from Nuremberg guarantees the highest quality. Also available: German Rider Badge 3rd Class Bronze 1935 (Item No. 31.008) from the same manufacturer.
