In early September 1943, it participated in disarming the 8th Italian Army. In late October 1943, the division moved to Northern France (Arras–Doullens area), and in early December 1943, to the Eastern Front, where it was deployed for defensive battles in the Vitebsk area as part of the 3rd Panzer Army.
